Bruce Boxleitner (Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Babylon 5) will guest-star on NCIS during fall sweeps, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Boxleitner will play Vice Admiral C. Clifford Chase, a high-ranking Navy official who turns to Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest of the NCIS team when his friend is killed. Chase believes the motive behind the murder could have national security implications.
Best known for his roles as operative Lee Stetson on Scarecrow and John J. Sheridan on Babylon 5, Boxleitner, 60, has also appeared on such series as How the West Was Won, Bring ‘Em Back Alive, Chuck, Cold Case and Heroes. He also starred as the title character in Tron, a role he is set to reprise in December’s Tron: Legacy.
NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS. Boxleitner’s episode, “Broken Arrow,” is scheduled to air Nov. 9.

In typical fashion, NCIS hinted briefly on this week’s season premiere at a major, future story arc that had nothing to do with the plot unfolding Tuesday: The return of Eli David.
According to Entertainment Weekly, in November, Ziva comes face-to-face with her dad for the first time since her return from Israel. Executive producer Shane Brennan says:
“It’s an emotionally-charged reunion [with Ziva] in a two-part episode that also reveals much about the enigmatic Eli David and one of the other team members.”
That’s gotta be Vance, right?
No need to Shield your eyes from this NCIS news: Catherine Dent is coming on board for two episodes this fall as Whitney Sharp, a former agent who shares a past with Ducky.
David McCallum’s medical examiner character will be featured in one of the show’s promised “origin episodes” and his relationship with Sharp will play a major role in that story.
EW reports that the former star of The Shield will be on “at least two episodes,” meaning this role could continue even after November sweeps. That certainly sounds intriguing.
Dent’s character is described as an educated, bright, and extremely capable federal agent who had an eye for talent and a tongue for persuasion back in the day. No surprise.
Is Michael Nouri’s return to ‘NCIS‘ as Eli David connected to the November sweeps Ziva storyline? – Lyss
“Yes, it is,” series boss Shane Brennan tells the Big Tease. “Be prepared for a double episode that takes one of our characters into a dark and dangerous past.” And which character might that be? Let Rocky Carroll drop this clue: “[Leon Vance and Eli David] have a past, and we’re going to delve into that. We start to unveil and peel back more about the Vance character” – including, perhaps, a bit on the infamous shredded document.
