CBS’ NCIS has enlisted TV vet Kelli Williams to guest-star in an upcoming episode that will explore the issue of sexual assault in the Navy.

“It’s a really important episode for us,” showrunner Gary Glasberg tells TVLine of the installment, which has already been filmed and is now being edited. “I’m very pleased with how it’s turning out.”

Williams — whose previous TV credits include Army Wives, Lie to Me, Men in Trees and The Practice — plays an NCIS agent in the episode, which will be the second one to follow the imminent two-week NCIS: New Orleans planted spin-off (premiering this Tuesday at 8/7c).

She’ll continue her relationship with the network and play Scott Bakula’s wife in the planted spinoff.
The planted spinoff has cast Person of Interest’s Paige Turco as Linda, the wife to Bakula’s lead Agent Pride, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Set to air in the spring, the two-part planted pilot centers on the NCIS New Orleans office, which handles cases from Pensacola, Fla., through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. New Orleans, with its rich culture of music, fun and debauchery is a magnet for military personnel on leave — and with fun, comes trouble.

Turco, who has a series regular role on The CW’s midseason drama The 100, will film the NCIS guest role in second position and potentially recur should the spinoff move forward.

She joins a cast that also includes Zoe McLellan, CCH Pounder and Lucas Black. Turco continues to recur as Zoe on CBS’ Person of Interest. She’s repped by Gersh and One Entertainment.

NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg and star Mark Harmon will executive produce the spinoff, which will air in the spring.

The NCIS: New Orleans team is quickly populating.

On the heels of Scott Bakula joining CBS’ spin-off pilot as team leader Agent Pride, Sons of Anarchy D.A./onetime Shield captain CCH Pounder and JAG alum Zoe McLellan have been added to the cast.

Pounder will play Dr. Wade, the Jefferson Parish Medical Examiner, who is described as being “as eccentric as she is smart,” “worldly, intuitive and incredibly connected to Louisiana.” (Though this pilot will be shot well before Sons starts production on its final season, Pounder may have some schedule-juggling to do if it goes to series.)

McLellan meanwhile has landed the role of Special Agent Brody, a Midwestern transplant who comes to New Orleans looking for a fresh start and a safe haven to heal old wounds. As such, she is the show’s crawfish-out-of-water.

Still to be cast for the pilot — which is being exec-produced by NCIS boss Gary Glasberg and star Mark Harmon, and will air as a springtime NCIS two-parter — is Agent LaSalle, a “muscular,” “devilish” and “charming” 30something former Sheriff’s deputy, raised in Louisiana.

A four-time Emmy nominee, Pounder’s other TV credits include Warehouse 13, ER and The X-Files. McLellan’s resume — in addition to her run as JAG P.O. Jennifer Coates — includes Dirty Sexy Money, The Mentalist, Royal Pains and House.

The NCIS: New Orleans team is quickly populating.

On the heels of Scott Bakula being cast on CBS’ planted spin-off pilot as team leader Agent Pride, Zoe McLellan — who played wife to Peter Krause on Dirty Sexy Money — has landed the role of Special Agent Brody, a Midwestern transplant who comes to New Orleans looking for a fresh start and a safe haven to heal old wounds, and thus is the show’s crawfish-out-of-water.

Still to be cast for the pilot — which is being exec-produced by NCIS boss Gary Glabserg and star Mark Harmon, and will air as a springtime NCIS two-parter — are the roles of Agent LaSalle (a “muscular,” “devilish” and “charming” 30something former Sheriff’s deputy, raised in Louisiana) and Dr. Wade (the “outspoken” and “eccentric” Ducky of the team).

In addition to her Dirty Sexy run, McLellan’s TV credits include appearances on The Mentalist, Royal Pains and House.

CBS’ latest, New Orleans-based NCIS offshoot has filled its first role, and it goes to TV vet Scott Bakula.

TVLine has learned that the alum of such series as Men of a Certain Age, Star Trek: Enterprise and Quantum Leap is boarding the planted pilot in the role of NCIS Special Agent Pride.

Described as “embodying New Orleans,” Pride is “driven by the need to do what’s right … with warmth, passion, strength and humor. He’s a unique federal agent working in one of this country’s most unique cities.”

In the prospective series — which is being exec-produced by NCIS boss Gary Glabserg and star Mark Harmon, and will air its pilot as a springtime NCIS two-parter — the New Orleans NCIS office will handle cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. Per the logline, “With its rich setting of music, fun and debauchery, New Orleans is a magnet for military personnel on-leave. And with fun comes trouble.”

Still to be cast for the pilot are the roles of Agent LaSalle (a “muscular,” “devilish” and “charming” 30something former Sheriff’s deputy, raised in Louisiana), Agent Brody (a 30something female wielding an Ivy League mind and “Grace Kelly-like class, pomp and circumstance”) and Dr. Wade (the “outspoken” and “eccentric” Ducky of the team). I previously offered my casting ideas here.

Bakula’s other TV credits include (but are never limited to!) HBO’s Behind the Candelabra (for which he earned an Emmy nomination), Chuck, Desperate Housewives and appearances on Looking and Two and a Half Men.

Who’s ready to meet the “missing” Mrs. Gibbs?

Having just recently had some on-screen fun with the fact that NCIS has never identified, let alone cast, Jethro’s second ex-wife, the CBS drama has a plan to fill in that conspicuous blank.

Speaking with TVLine at CBS’ Television Critics Association winter press tour cocktail party, showrunner Gary Glasberg shared, “I can promise you that [the mystery wife] is probably going to get touched on in Season 12″ — which, yes, has not officially been ordered, but come on.

Introducing that ex promises to be “[storyline] gold,” Glasberg effused. “I have a little tiny space on my Dry Erase board for stories for next season, and that’s already up there.”

Gibbs was first married to Shannon (played by Scandal‘s Darby Stanchfield), who,NCIS Gibbs Wives with their daughter, tragically died. Next, he wed Diane (Mad Men‘s Melinda McGraw), who is also Agent Fornell’s ex. And following his marriage to the yet-to-be-revealed “Redhead,” Gibbs traded vows with Stephanie (The West Wing‘s Kathleen York).

Of course, nary a month goes by where one NCIS viewer doesn’t email TVLine to ask if series star Mark Harmon’s real-life wife, actress Pam Dawber, will ever guest-star on TV’s most watched drama — perhaps even as Gibbs’ mystery missus.

“That’d be fun,” Glasberg acknowledges. “Every year someone says, ‘Maybe Pam will [be on the show],’ and every year it doesn’t happen.

“I have a feeling that’s a tall order,” he offered, “but it’s worth a phone call.”

I was wondering if you could give me any scoop on NCIS, preferably on McGee or on the return of Susanna Thompson as Hollis Mann. –Ted
I choose… the pretty lady. Show boss Gary Glasberg told me that in addition to playing a “key role” in the Case of the Week when the CBS drama returns on Jan. 7, Ms. Mann also “has this huge back story, in some really terrific scenes with Mark Harmon/Gibbs.”

Any chance we’ll see Wendy Makkena’s character back on NCIS this season? –Mel
As a matter of fact, yes, Dr. Cranston’s services will be needed come Episode 14. But why…?

I am looking to find a recording of the ending song from this week’s NCIS holiday episode. I thought it was beautiful –Joanna

Beware of NCIS‘ newest agent — she’s got mob ties.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Sopranos grad Emily Wickersham — she played A.J.’s girlfriend Rhiannon during the HBO drama’s sixth and final season — is joining the CBS smash as a potential successor to Cote de Pablo’s Ziva.

Wickersham, whose three-episode deal with the show contains a series regular option, will play Bishop, a bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward new agent. She has a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism. She’s traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home.” (CBS tends to do these trial runs to ensure the actor/actress in question is a good fit. See also: The Mentalist.)

Currently recurring on FX’s The Bridge as the stepdaughter of Annabeth Gish’s character, Wickersham will make her NCIS debut during November sweeps.

Prior to that, the show will “rotate some fun people” through the agency’s doors. “The first two episodes are all about Ziva’s departure,” EP Gary Glasberg recently told TVLine. “And then in the third episode we [begin to] introduce some different characters. And then, hopefully, when people are comfortable enough, one will walk in and be The One.”

NCIS’ Season 11 bows on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Any word on whether NCIS will bring back family members of the team? And if so, do you happen to know which? –Daniel
Thus far, both Ralph Waite and Robert Wagner are likely (though not double-secret confirmed) to again play pop to Gibbs and DiNozzo, respectively.
